FAQs
What are squeegees used for?
Squeegees are cleaning tools that have a flat, smooth rubber blade used to wipe or scrape liquids from flat surfaces. They can be used to clean windows by pulling soapy water or glass cleaner from the surface to give the glass a clear, streak-free shine. Larger squeegees can push excess water, spills or floor cleaner off tile, concrete or wooden floors to help speed up drying. Squeegees can also help you wipe off other surfaces like shower walls and car windows to remove excess water.
Do you push or pull a squeegee?
When you’re using a squeegee to clean, it’s best to pull it towards your body or across the glass with smooth, continuous strokes. To make the squeegee easy to glide, hold the blade at a 45-degree angle against the glass. Use light and even pressure rather than pressing down hard to let the squeegee glide against the surface you’re cleaning. Make sure you’re using glass cleaner or a mixture of water and a couple of drops of dish soap in a bucket or spray bottle.
Are rubber or silicone squeegees better?
Silicone squeegees are the better choice for use at home and on different types of surfaces because they’re more flexible, durable and resistant to ageing compared to rubber squeegees. Rubber squeegees are the preferred choice for glass cleaning and heavy-duty floor cleaning and drying. We have floor care products that include mops, brooms, sweepers, vacuum cleaners and commercial floor cleaners.
What is a good alternative to a squeegee?
If you’re looking for an alternative to a squeegee for cleaning glass, mirrors and other surfaces, a good option is a microfibre cloth. Microfibre cloths absorb water quickly and leave surfaces streak-free without scratching. You can also use paper towels as an alternative because they can also absorb water quickly and are easy to use. Use a quality brand of paper towels to avoid leaving lint behind.
