FAQs
What are toilet brushes used for?
A toilet brush is a cleaning tool that’s used to scrub and clean the inside of a toilet bowl. By scrubbing the inside of the bowl, it helps break down grime, stains and mineral rings that can form inside. Its angled head and bristles help it reach hidden areas like under the rim where bacteria and buildup can form. It works best when combined with toilet cleaners, bleach or disinfecting gels.
What are plungers used for?
A plunger is used for clearing blocked pipes by creating a tight seal over a drain. When pushed down, it can increase water and air pressure against a clog and when pulled up it creates suction to pull the clog apart. This breaks up the clog and allows it to move through the pipes. Along with toilet cleaners, they help keep toilets clean and running properly.
How do you clean a toilet brush?
To clean your toilet brush, start by rinsing it in freshly flushed toilet water. Hold the brush in the bowl and let the water rinse the bristles. Then, you can spray the brush with a disinfectant like hydrogen peroxide, a combination of water and vinegar, disinfecting spray or all-purpose cleaner. To let the brush dry, place the handle between the toilet seat and the rim so it drips into the bowl and air dries.
How do you use a plunger?
To use a toilet plunger, place the plunger at an angle into the toilet bowl and seat it firmly over the drain hole to create a tight seal. Then, push and pull firmly to break down the clog and clear the blockage. Listen for a gurgling sound or watch for the water to rapidly drain away, which indicates that the clog is clear. If there is any spilled water, clean it up with paper towels, toilet paper or microfibre cloths.
