FAQs
What kind of broom and dustpan should I have in my home?
For sweeping up dirt and dust in your home, you should have an angled broom and a long-handled rubber-lipped dustpan available. Angled brooms are made with soft or medium synthetic bristles and can work well in room corners and along tight baseboards. They can also work well on different floor surfaces like hardwood, tile and laminate. Having a long-handled dustpan lets you sweep up dirt without bending down, and the rubber lip presses flat on the floor so dirt doesn’t slide underneath. It’s also a good idea to use sweepers to pick up any additional dust.
What different types of brooms are there?
We carry a selection of brooms that include upright brooms, angle brooms, push brooms, lobby brooms and corn brooms. Upright brooms are standard long-handled brooms for general floor cleaning. Angle brooms are upright brooms with angled bristles that help reach corners and along baseboards. Push brooms have a wide head and are designed to be pushed across large spaces like auditoriums or hallways. Lobby brooms are compact upright brooms that often come with a long-handled standing dustpan so you don’t have to bend down. Corn brooms are traditional brooms with bristles made from plant fibres that are good for indoor and outdoor sweeping.
What is a dustpan used for?
A dustpan is a flat, shovel-like cleaning tool that’s used to collect dust, dirt and debris that gets swept up when using a broom. When you’re sweeping, place the dustpan flat on the floor so dirt, dust, crumbs and broken items like glass can be swept directly in. From there, you can safely dispose of the waste in a garbage bin or garbage bag.
What is a duster?
A duster is a cleaning tool that is designed for cleaning and wiping away dust from different surfaces. Dusters can include a soft microfibre cloth, feather duster or another handheld device that can wipe dust from home furniture, kitchen appliances and other surfaces. When dusting, make sure to start at the top of the area you’re cleaning and work down so dust and debris can land on the floor and be swept up afterward.
