FAQs
What is the most common problem with vacuum cleaners?
The most common problem with vacuum cleaners is a loss of suction. This is usually caused by a clogged hose, a full vacuum bag or dust bin, or a dirty filter. Loss of suction comes from trapped dirt in the hose or wand. If the blockage isn’t removed or cleaned it can lead to other issues like overheating and potentially a burning smell. Another common problem is having a vacuum brush that doesn’t spin. This can come from hair or debris wrapping around the roller and preventing it from rotating. If this happens it should be look at immediately, so it doesn’t damage the vacuum cleaner.
How do you clean a vacuum cleaner?
To clean your vacuum cleaner, start by unplugging it or removing the battery so it’s turned off. Empty the dust bin in a garbage can or replace the vacuum bag. If your vacuum has a filter, either replace it or clean it with water. Lastly, clear any tangles from the brush roll so it can work effectively. Let any wet parts dry completely before putting your vacuum cleaner back together for future use.
What is a vacuum filter?
A vacuum cleaner filter is a part of a vacuum cleaner that traps dust, dirt, pet hair and allergens from the air being sucked into the machine. Dirty air passes through, and clean air exits the vacuum exhaust, preventing dust and allergens from recirculating into the room you’re cleaning. Are vacuum filters washable?
Some vacuum filters can be washed with water, but it depends completely on the type of filter your vacuum cleaner uses. Some foam, felt and HEPA filters can be rinsed, but you need to check your vacuum manual first before doing so. Paper filters and standard HEPA cartridges are not washable and can be ruined by water. They can be cleaned by emptying them over a garbage bag or garbage can.
