Students in Grade 4 need a combination of school supplies that includes writing supplies, organization materials and tech accessories for the school year. This is to help them with an increasing workload in class. Some essential school supplies include pencils, notebooks, pencil crayons, pens, pencil sharpeners, pencil cases, binders, dividers, rulers, calculators, report covers and a pair of headphones for computer labs and online activities.

Grade 4 students usually use wooden pencils or mechanical pencils for writing notes and working on assignments because they can be easily corrected with an eraser. However, students can be introduced to writing with pens around this grade level for certain tasks or assignments. If your child is writing with pens, make sure they have correction tape or correction fluid in case they need to correct a mistake.

Headphones can be a helpful accessory for students in grades 4 to 5 to help kids focus when studying or listening to digital learning tools. Headphones allow students to listen to music or videos without distractions from their peers or from outside noise. Shop from our selection of kids headphones, in-ear headphones, on-ear headphones and over-ear headphones to find the right pair for your child.

Students in Grade 5 can benefit from using laptops and iPad tablets at home or in class for structured assignments, research, building typing skills and digital literacy. However, because kids at that age are still developing foundational skills, laptops should be used as a secondary tool rather than replacing traditional work with pencil and paper. Adult supervision is recommended for students using laptops at this age. Our selection of laptops includes Chromebooks, Windows laptops, Copilot+ PC laptops and MacBook laptops.
