FAQs
What is the difference between mailing labels and shipping labels?
Mailing labels are smaller stickers used on envelopes and letters that display basic address details like name, address and postal code. Shipping labels are larger tags attached to packages and include tracking numbers, postage data and routing instructions along with basic address details. If you’re looking to mail or ship your next package, we have shipping services available from partners like FedEx, Purolator, UPS and DHL.
Can mailing and shipping labels be used with printers?
Yes, mailing and shipping labels are designed specifically to be used with printers. You can use standard inkjet printers and laser printers with pre-cut adhesive label sheets, like Avery labels. You can also use thermal printers with roll labels. For the best results when printing labels, feed the sheets one at a time to prevent jams.
How do you print shipping labels?
To print a shipping label, create a shipment on a carrier website like FedEx, Purolator, UPS or DHL, an e-commerce platform or shipping software. Enter the sender and recipient addresses, input the package weight and size and send the PDF file from your laptop or desktop PC to your printer or label printer. When printing, make sure you adjust the settings to match your label size and type. Once printed, attach your shipping label to your package.
Do mailing and shipping labels have a strong adhesive?
Yes, standard mailing and shipping labels use a strong pressure-sensitive adhesive that’s designed to bond tightly to cardboard boxes, paper and plastic mailers so they don’t peel off during the shipping and delivery process. If you’re concerned about your shipping labels falling off, you can cover them in clear tape as an extra layer of protection.
