FAQs
Which pencil crayons are best for colouring?
The best pencil crayons for colouring depend on your preferred artistic style and colour blending preferences. Start by considering what kind of core you want your pencil crayons to have, wax-based or oil-based. Wax-based pencil crayons are better for blending and layering colours in sketchbooks and notebooks because they are softer. Oil-based pencil crayons are firmer, hold a sharper point and are better for drawing finer details.
How do you blend pencil crayons?
Blending pencil crayons/coloured pencils in a drawing or sketch comes from layering colours with different amounts of pressure on the paper. The goal is to create a smooth transition from one colour to another. Start with lighter colours and gradually add darker tones to avoid colours getting muddied. Rather than using heavy single strokes, use circular motions to help cover the paper evenly in light layers. We have a wide variety of drawing pencils and art pencils to help you practice and experiment with blending colours.
What is the difference between cheap and expensive coloured pencils?
One of the main differences between cheap and expensive coloured pencils is that artist-grade coloured pencils deliver richer colours, are easier to blend and more resistant to colour fading. While student-grade coloured pencils contain more fillers that can result in less vibrant colours and can also lead to colours fading quicker in drawings. Cheaper coloured pencils can also feel harder to draw with compared to higher-grade coloured pencils that can feel softer to draw with. We carry a wide range of drawing supplies and art tools to help bring your art to life in vivid colour.
How to get pencil crayon off walls?
If you need to clean pencil crayon off your walls, there are gentle methods you can try like using a quality pencil eraser to rub the markings off your wall. For more difficult marks you can use a combination of baking soda and water or a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Dampen a sponge or the magic eraser and gently scrub the marks in a circular motion until they disappear.
