FAQs
What are pen refills used for?
Pen refills are replacement ink cartridges or reservoirs used to refill empty pens. Rather than disposing your pen, you can swap out the empty cartridge with the refill to save money, reduce waste and keep using your favourite writing tools. Pen refills can also allow you to customize your writing by swapping ink types and ink colour without having to buy a new pen.
Can pen refills be used with any pen?
Pen refills cannot be used with any pen; they are not universal. Choosing the right pen refill depends on your pen’s brand, model and the writing mechanism (ballpoint, rollerball, fountain pen, etc.). Most pens rely on proprietary refills or standard sizes. This means that you have to match the refill to your pen’s specific requirements. For example, if you have a Parker ballpoint pen, you should use a Parker Ballpoint Pen Refill.
How do I know what pen refill I need?
When you’re looking for the exact pen refill you need, start by looking at the manufacturer’s label on the old refill. Unscrew your pen, remove the refill and look for the brand and/or model number that’s printed on it. Most pen refills are either proprietary to the specific brand or have a standardized size. We have pen refills that are useful for ballpoint pens, gel pens, rollerball pens and fine writing pens.
What types of pen refills are available?
Pen refills generally fall into five main categories. You can find pen refills for ballpoint pens (thick oil-based ink), gel pens (smooth, water/pigment mixed ink), rollerball pens (water-based ink), fountain pens (cartridges or bottled ink) and specialty pens like fineliners or space pens. Pen refills vary by brand and pen tip shape. To make sure you get the right refills, check your pen’s manufacturer’s requirements.
