Why Slime Making can be Fun and Educational

It’s ooey-gooey, slimey and a chance to pretend you’re a mad scientist in a lab – of course slime making is fun! But did you know that making slime can also be educational and aid in child development?
1. It’s a fantastic sensory development activity where young kids can learn about different textures and shapes.
2. Measuring and mixing the ingredients to make slime is a fantastic math and chemistry lesson.
3. Playing with and squeezing slime, can often help calm anxieties, frustrations and serve as a fidgeting tool.
Slime is truly the ultimate example, that learning and fun can go hand-in-hand! We’ve rounded up our favourite Slime recipes to get you mixing, creating and learning!
Tie Dye Slime
Supplies Needed:
• 147 ml (5 _ oz) Elmer’s Orange Glow-in-the-Dark Glue
• 147 ml (5 _ oz) Elmer’s Purple Glow-in-the-Dark Glue
• 147 ml (5 _ oz) Elmer’s Clear Glue
• 1/2 tbsp of baking soda
• 1¼ tbsp of contact lens solution
Instructions:
1. Pour out 147 ml (5 oz) of Elmer’s Orange Glow-in-the-Dark Glue into a bowl.
2. Add ½ tbsp of baking soda and mix thoroughly.
3. Add 1¼ tbsp of contact lens solution.
4. Mix until mixture gets harder to mix and slime begins to form.
5. Take the slime out and begin kneading with both of your hands.
6. If needed, add ¼ tbsp of contact lens solution to make the slime less sticky.
Repeat
steps 1 – 6 to make the next two Slime batches, Purple Glow and Clear slime.
Once all colours are created, lay them on top of each other and then swirl and twist!
If you knead too much, the colours will eventually mix and become one. Have fun playing with your snow indoors, snow slime that is!

Tinsel Slime
Supplies Needed:
• 177 ml (6 _ oz) Elmer’s Silver Glitter Glue
• 147 ml (5 _ oz) Elmer’s White Glue
• 1/2 tbsp of baking soda
• 1¼ tbsp of contact lens solution
Instructions:
1. Pour out 147 ml (5 oz) of Elmer’s Silver Glitter Glue into a bowl.
2. Add ½ tbsp of baking soda and mix thoroughly.
3. Add 1¼ tbsp of contact lens solution.
4. Mix until mixture gets harder to mix and slime begins to form.
5. Take the slime out and begin kneading with both of your hands.
6. If needed, add ¼ tbsp of contact lens solution to make the slime less sticky.
Repeat
steps 1 – 6 to make the next white Slime batch. Once created, lay them on top of each other and then swirl and twist! If you knead too much, the colours will eventually mix and become one.

Blue Sky Slime
Supplies Needed:
• 177 ml (6 _ oz) Elmer’s Blue Glitter Glue
• 147 ml (5 _ oz) Elmer’s Blue Metallic Glue
• 147 ml (5 _ oz) Elmer’s Colour Changing Glue - Blue to Purple
• 1/2 tbsp of baking soda
• 1¼ tbsp of contact lens solution
Instructions:
1. Pour out 147 ml (5 oz) of Elmer’s Glitter Glue into a bowl.
2. Add ½ tbsp of baking soda and mix thoroughly.
3. Add 1¼ tbsp of contact lens solution.
4. Mix until mixture gets harder to mix and slime begins to form.
5. Take the slime out and begin kneading with both of your hands.
6. If needed, add ¼ tbsp of contact lens solution to make the slime less sticky.

What’s cooler than slime? Glow-in-the-Dark slime!
Make luminescent slime using a few common household ingredients. It’s super easy and kid-friendly!
