Growth and change are on the agenda for Staples in 2021, so get ready for a revamped shopping experience from coast to coast with 500+ new products in-store. According to Staples Director of Creative and Visual Merchandising, Teresa Tonna, here are the top 5 things to watch for the next time you walk through our doors.
1. An immersive Audio Bar that takes music to the next level
“One of the biggest transformations is our new Audio Bar, which is like no other retailers’ in Canada,” says Tonna. The Audio Bar is an interactive experience where customers can listen to their own music while testing headphones from big brands like Sony, Bose and Apple. All you have to do is plug in your phone. And don’t worry, it’s safe: “Our ShopSafeTM Program is fully integrated into in-store experiences, with high-touch surfaces sanitized [regularly] throughout the store,” says Tonna.
2. A designated Connected Home and Office area for future-proofing
Another key element of the transformation is the Connected Home and Office area. Here, customers can find a top selection of technology to build a Smart Home (a setup that allows you to control appliances and devices via the Internet) and a Smart Office (a workspace that uses tech to help you work better). With many companies pivoting to Work From Anywhere, it’s a timely refresh.“This is where we will highlight leading brands in the Smart Home and Office market, such as Google, Amazon and Geeni,” says Tonna.
In this area, you can interact with new products, and get Smart Office support and customer warranty protection.
3. Categorized printers for easy navigation
Staples has always had a huge printer selection, but now it’s also the easiest to navigate.
“Our printer department is no longer organized by brand, but by use, whether that’s office printers, home printers, photo printers or super-tank printers,” says Tonna.
Need help? No problem. “Our printer department has integrated tech services. We can set your printer up for you in your own home (public health regulations permitting) or you can call our support line for one-on-one help,” says Tonna.
4. Monitor product education for customers
Ever wonder about the differences between HD and 4K monitors? What about flat versus curved monitors? The refreshed Monitor section will provide more education to customers through signage and trained staff, says Tonna. You’ll also find monitors displayed in a more browsing-friendly style, at eye level with accessories such as keyboards and mice organized below.
5. The new and exciting Staples Game Zone
Calling all gamers: Staples has created an ultimate destination just for you — think: accessories, essentials and activations.
“While we’ve always had gaming essentials, you can now test laptops, gaming headphones and other accessories,” says Tonna. “Gamers can find everything in one location from leading brands including Logitech, ASUS and more.”
