Small Business Profile: Janelle Morgan from Morgan Model Management

Based in Toronto, Morgan Model Management is designed to connect a diverse roster of models to creative clientele who are trend-driven. Headed up by former model Janelle Morgan, there is a front line understanding of the needs of the industry and how to fill some of the cultural holes in representation both nationally, and internationally.

How did you get your start?

After working as a commercial model for over 10 years, I took a leap of faith and left the corporate world and started Morgan Models. Now six years in, we have a small team of three that includes our head booker Lola Cromwell and Men's booker Elias Evans. Together we watch fashion trends and keep our eye out for diverse and unique faces.

How has your business adapted to the current COVID-19 environment and how has your customer reacted?

Once we accepted our new normal, we decided to place our energy into engaging content that included showing more of our models personalities along with a look behind the scenes. This gave our clients and audience another side of the agency where they could engage with us in a fun way.

What’s your greatest struggle as a business owner right now?

Ensuring that our partners, clients and models understand this new way of living and adhering to social distancing while on set and on the jobs.

Where do you think entrepreneurs should invest their time and money?

Building a strong brand can help an entrepreneur attract customers and position themselves where eventually marketing can be easily attained. Networking can be done in person or online which will help one build brand personality, and advertising will help to attract those who may not have heard about you yet.

What keeps you inspired and working every day?

That we can assist different people each day to achieve their desires and goals.
