This craft will teach you how to use everyday arts and craft materials, and objects from around the house to make a fun catapult and target game!
What you need:
Plain paper
Scissors
Markers/Colouring Pencils/Crayons
Glue
Double-sided Tape/Glue Gun
Cardboard (1 big piece and 1 small strip)
Cotton balls (optional)
7 Popsicle sticks
4 Elastics
Bottle Cap
Step One
First let’s build the catapult. Stack 5 popsicle sticks together and wrap an elastic on both ends to secure the stack.
Step Two
Then, take an elastic and secure the remaining 2 popsicle sticks together on one end.
Step Three
Open the other end of the 2 popsicle sticks into a V-shape, insert the stack of 5 popsicle sticks and wrap an elastic into an X to secure the 5 popsicle sticks into the V-shape.
Step Four
Now, attach your bottle cap on to the top of your catapult with either double-sided tape or glue gun.
Step Five
For the target, design and draw a target of your choice on to your plain sheet of paper. In this instance, we’ve decided to make it a rainbow, inspired by all the beautiful rainbow paintings the kids have been sticking on their windows!
Step Six
Once you’re done drawing and colouring your rainbow/target, cut it out and glue it on to the big piece of cardboard. Trim the excess cardboard around your drawing. In this instance, because our target is a rainbow, were also gluing the cotton balls to the bottom of the rainbow.
Step Seven
Now let’s make the stand, take your small strip of cardboard, and bend approximately 3cm down, creating an L shape. Attach this to the back of your cardboard with double-sided tape or glue gun.
Now take aim and see if you can hit your target. If you want to expand your range, you can make lots of different targets to make it a full-blown game. Have fun!
