• What made you want to do a co-op with Staples?
Stephen Townsend: I was already an associate in store and so It was a natural transition to transfer, gain industry knowledge and begin a career.
Ibidolapo Bolu: I wanted a company that was both inclusive and progressive and Staples was both of those things and more.
Lauren Nigro: I was passionate about my opportunity with Staples because I knew it would help me gain experience in the HR field, while leaving me room to work, learn, and grow every day.
• How has Staples *equipped you* to successfully work from home?
Stephen Townsend: Staples provided me with a workstation setup with the necessary accounts to begin my connecting with my team.
Ibidolapo Bolu: I was provided with all the equipment I needed to successfully work from home and the transition was very smooth.
Lauren Nigro: Staples made working from home seamless as I was provided with a laptop, webcam and the essentials needed to work remotely
• What is It like working for Staples Canada?
Stephen Townsend: Staples Canada creates an environment for employees to work learn and grow. The Co-op opportunity has allowed me to do all three in a matter of four months. Creating a positive environment to ask questions and collaborate in a nonjudgmental way. The staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and do anything they can to help you succeed. My managers have always been pushing me to learn and providing chances to demonstrate my growth.
Ibidolapo Bolu: Working for Staples, you are treated as a fulltime associate and the company is dedicated to your individual development. It has been a very fulfilling experience so far.
Lauren Nigro: This experience has allowed me to explore all the moving parts within the company, while gaining insight as to what happens behind the scenes in a large corporation. This experience has given me the opportunity to interact with a variety of individuals in different departments – and every interaction is a learning opportunity.
• In one word how would you describe the culture at Staples – and why?
Stephen Townsend: Indescribable
Ibidolapo Bolu: The culture at Staples is very positive. Everyone is welcoming, respectful and the company is inclusive, innovative and constantly growing.
Lauren Nigro: Nurturing. As a co-op student with a first time experience in HR the company has really nurtured me into an individual who has been able to learn and grow every day and meet my development goals.
