Jason Vance is founder of Unbranded Media Inc., a company that creates third media networks for businesses to increase their reach and connect with their ideal customer. They help make peoples ideas happen.
How did you get your start?
It started as a happy accident working on a marketing campaign for a resort community in the Okanagan. We found that with a third network, we could get a far greater reach for our clients. After that, we experimented for a few more years and decided to do this full time.
How has your business adapted to the current COVID-19 environment and how has your customer reacted?
We were originally a remote working business, so moving back home from our office at the Staples Studio coworking space wasn't too much of an adjustment. We have taken this time to build out more networks and to work on some of the things in our business that needed attention.
What’s your greatest struggle as a business owner right now?
Being a "creative" business owner, I struggle with systems and processes that will help my team.
Where do you think entrepreneurs should invest their time and money?
Invest in yourself as the leader. Hire coaches that can help you in all areas of your life. Business, mental and physical health, relationships, leadership, etc. Then invest in your team. You'll recoup any money spend 10 times over.
What keeps you inspired and working every day?
I have a vision of the future that I see people working with a purpose and doing something they love. I wake up every day to make that a reality.
As a Staples Preferred program customer and a member of Staples Studio in Kelowna, what has your experience been like?
I love the discounts and the access to more of what Staples has to offer. Before I was a Preferred customer, I had no idea of all the things they could do for my business.
At the Staples Studio co-working space in Kelowna, I’ve fostered some great connections. My business has grown a lot since joining. I've made some new strategic partnerships, I've hired some of the other partners in the space and I've found clients through those relationships. So far, the whole experience has been 300% more profitable than its cost.
