FAQs
How do magnets work?
Magnets like fridge magnets stick to surfaces like metal because their magnetic fields interact with the iron or steel in the refrigerator door. At the atomic level, opposite poles pull together to form a strong and temporary bond. The bond is broken when the magnet is pulled off the surface. With magnets you can post things like calendars, schedules and photos with ease.
What is magnetic paper used for?
Magnetic paper is used to turn your custom designs, personal photos and text into flexible, repositionable magnets. Magnetic paper is commonly used for save-the-date cards, business cards, fridge magnets, educational tools, promotional materials and signage. Magnetic paper can also be used for printing family photos and artwork that can stick to a fridge, filing cabinet or locker. For teachers, magnetic paper can be used to make interactive visual aids and moveable pieces on a blackboard or whiteboard.
Will magnets stick to magnetic paper?
No, magnets can’t stick directly onto magnetic paper, or at least not very well. Since magnetic paper uses its own magnetic poles to stick to metallic surfaces like a fridge, regular magnets will either repel or not align well against magnetic paper. Magnets and magnetic paper work best when they are separately placed against a magnetic surface like a chalkboard or locker.
Can a regular printer print on magnet paper?
Yes, you can use a regular home printer to print on magnetic paper. However, it can only be done on an inkjet printer. This is because laser printers get very hot when they’re printing and the heat can melt magnetic paper and potentially damage the printer. Inkjet printers stay cool when printing, which makes them safe to use with magnetic paper. When printing on magnetic paper, you need to print one sheet at a time because it is thicker and heavier than regular printer paper. Change your printer settings for glossy photo paper and set the print quality to the highest resolution. Once the sheet has printed, let the ink completely dry before you touch it.
