FAQs
What are garbage bags used for?
Garbage bags are disposable liners that are used to collect, store, sort and safely dispose of household or commercial waste. They work as a protective liner inside garbage bins and trash cans to keep them clean, sanitary and free from wet or sticky spills and messes. They also contain odours and germs while keeping pests away from damaging them.
What is the difference between garbage bags and recycling bags?
The difference between garbage bags and recycling bags is that garbage bags are made to hold non-recyclable waste, while recycling bags are made to hold clean recyclable materials. Garbage bags are usually dark or opaque, while recycling bags are usually clear or blue-tinted. Garbage bags are usually made from thicker plastic to hold wet or sharp garbage, while recycling bags can be thinner because they hold dry and clean items.
What are the best garbage bags for home use?
When shopping for garbage bags for home use, look for thick and stretchy bags for kitchen trash, and thinner bags for light office or paper waste. Look for bags with built-in drawstrings that can seal better than standard garbage bags. You can also look for scented options to temporarily mask smells before throwing the bags out. Also, choose garbage bags that are slightly bigger than your garbage bin so they can easily fit and are less likely to rip. The same can apply to recycling bags and recycling bins.
How often should garbage bags be changed?
How often you should change your garbage bags depends on the room size, the type of waste and how fast garbage builds up. Garbage bags should normally be changed every 2 to 3 days for kitchen garbage and once a week for bathroom bags or small indoor garbage bins. Compost bins should be changed every 3 to 4 days to manage moisture and prevent the spread of odours and fruit flies. However, once the bags are full or odours start to spread, they should be changed immediately. To handle strong odours, we have air fresheners available to choose from.
