MSI Launches New Gaming Laptops at COMPUTEX in Taiwan

This week I’m at COMPUTEX in Taipei, one of the world’s largest computer technology trade shows in the world. I made the journey this year to learn about the latest in computer technology and peripherals and to get a sneak peak at what we can expect to see on the market over the next year. For me, the big story this year has been gaming. But before I get to that, let’s look at the history of COMPUTEX.
COMPUTEX started out in 1981 as the Taipei Computer Show, before being renamed COMPUTEX in 1984. Starting out as a place where small and medium-sized companies in Taiwan’s computer industry could showcase their products, COMPUTEX has grown to showcase products from tech giants like Intel. In fact, COMPUTEX has grown so much that the show grounds have been expanded multiple times. This year, the show has brought together 1,600 exhibitors from 26 countries.
On to gaming! I’ve gaming since the 70’s with the launch of the Atari 2600, so suffice it to say that I love to geek out over gaming devices and accessories. Yesterday, I attended a press conference for the launch of the newest gaming computers from MSI. The event drew quite the crowd and with good reason. The company announced three new gaming laptops, all of them noteworthy.
MSI at COMPUTEX
For starters, MSI showed of the new Titan GT75VR, one of its flagship gaming laptops. This device sports a 120Hz, 17.3-inch 4K display. Inside, you’ll find Intel’s i7-7820HK processor and a choice of three powerful graphics cards. As you might guess based on display size, the Titan GT75VR is quite bulky. In fact, I would say it’s more of a desktop replacement than a mobile laptop. This makes it a fantastic device for gamers who want to participate in tournaments and bring a powerful device with them.
For gamers who want the best of both worlds: a portable laptop with a decent sized screen, MSI showed off the Raider GE63VR and GE73VR. These devices come with 15 and 17-inch displays respectively and offer 120Hz displays with 3ms refresh rates for super fast game play. They also feature RGB SteelSeries keyboards and advanced cooling systems for increased performance.
Overall, the lineup of new MSI gaming laptops is pretty impressive and I can’t wait to get my hands on them. Launch details for the Titan GT75VR and Raider GE63VR/GE73VR are yet to be announced. Luckily, the existing lineup of MSI laptops is pretty impressive and available in Staples stores and online at staples.ca.
