Happy New Year - 5 Goal Setting Tips That Will Stick

The New Year is the perfect opportunity to make changes for the better in your life. With a little planning you can make 2016 a year where you meet your goals and have lots to celebrate!

With the passing of another year we often find ourselves reflecting on the past. We take a long, hard look at our lives in general and can always find something we want to change or do better in the future.

Let’s take a look at 5 tips for setting goals and meeting them.

1) Make Setting Goals A Relaxing Treat

The perfect way to set up time for outlining your goals is by pampering yourself while you do it. Set the perfect mood by building a fire, having a mug of hot chocolate or a glass of wine. Put on your favorite music, wear your cozy pajamas. Create an environment that makes you comfortable and happy. The happier you are the easier it will be for you to discover exactly what your heart would like to change.

2) Try Not To Be Too Serious

When it comes to setting goals for ourselves we often set goals that are far too intense. Most of us set goals for our finances and health, but forget the other areas of our lives. Don’t forget to pay attention to goals concerning your family, friends, education, personal growth and spirituality. No matter how happy your relationship with your children or other half is, it never hurts to set a goal to make more time for them. Sometimes the smallest of changes can reap the biggest rewards.

3) Keep Your Goals Realistic

It’s important to keep your determination alive by keeping your goals attainable. As you make successful steps toward reaching your desired goal you can then add to those goals. Remember that sometimes life gets busy, making attaining difficult goals a harder journey, resulting at times, in people giving up. Give yourself a lot of room to breathe.

4) Use Your Imagination And Make Your Goals Happy And Fun

It’s important to use your imagination when you are setting goals. See yourself where you want to be. Don’t set limits. Remember that the things that you can achieve are limitless. Make sure that when you are setting your goals that they not only come from your mind, but from your heart as well. Don’t just let your mind determine the goals you set let your emotions have a voice as well.

5) Just Do It Without Hesitation

You cannot make the changes in your life that you want unless you step up to the plate. Making a list is the easy part. Don’t wait. Start taking the steps necessary to reach your goals today. Don’t let excuses get in your way of transforming your life for the better. Nothing can stop you once you commit yourself to change.

Ghandi once said, “Be the difference you want to see in the world.” This is wise advice to take to heart. Happy goal setting and Happy New Year!
