6 Things to Keep Your Kids Occupied this Summer

Being a parent has to be one of the hardest jobs in the world. You are solely responsible for the well-being of another human being. During the school year, managing and meshing their schedules with yours is a piece of cake because they’re in school for eight hours of the day. But the tricky part is finding interesting ways to keep them occupied during their summer vacation. Here are 6 things that will keep your children occupied.
1. Museum
Getting the kids out the house is the first step to an awesome day! What kid doesn’t enjoy a field trip? Museums are a great way to start. Museums are filled with rich information about the world’s history and culture. Educational field trips are always the best because the children are learning while having a blast looking at all the cool displays.
2. Books
Do you remember as a child, adults would always say, “reading is fundamental,” to get you to read a book? Well who knew they were right? Reading helps to stimulate the mind and engages imagination while building vocabulary. Researching a novel that is on your child’s reading level is as simple as ABC. Find that book that will keep their head buried in it and asking for more.
3. Advanced Tutoring/ Preparation
Although this may not be the easiest thing to introduce to your child, it's definitely beneficial to them. There are numerous summer programs that focus on the enrichment of the child based on the grade level they have been promoted to. This will not only keep your child occupied, but will also help them to be fully prepare for their next grade. Be sure to select a program that focuses on fun learning. That way, it won’t be difficult to persuade your child to go.
4. Pick A Sport/Instrument
Lets face it. Some children are athletic and some are not. Some children will enjoy running up and down a basketball court while others would see it as pure torture. Some children will enjoy learning Beethoven's classics while others would find that to be extremely boring. Depending on your child’s interest, playing an instrument or sport can be a great way to keep your child occupied this summer.
5. Water Park
Whoever thought of merging water with an amusement park was brilliant! Can’t take your kids to the beach? Take them to the nearest water park! Summer is the hottest time of the year with temperatures reaching over 100 degrees in some cities. Your children will love cooling down while floating by in a lazy river or surfing the waves in the surf pool. You too can enjoy this fulfilled wet adventure!
6. Chores
Now with all the fun they’ll be having this summer, I’m sure some things may get neglected. At the end of the summer, have a clean up Party! All the things they’ve collected throughout the summer may have caused clutter and dysfunction. Do yourself a favor and take some time to get your house in order before the school year starts.
