Reawaken That Inner Child

Look deep inside yourself and you will find your much younger self secretly yearning to do the things you did when you were a child, such a riding an electric toy scooter. Sometimes our inner child is buried under the weight of our life experiences, responsibilities and worries. To be your true self and to achieve your full potential, sometimes you need to reawaken that inner child and let it loose.

Here are some things you can do to reawaken that child in you:

Swing on a swing: I use to love swinging on swings; those were the days when I had no cares in world. I am sure most of us have beautiful memories of playing when we were kids. When was the last time you did something you loved when you were a kid? I can tell you, I don’t remember the last time I swung on a swing. I actually never put much thought into it until recently. I have since scheduled it into my calendar. I plan to bring my 3 year old niece to the park and swing on a swing with her.

Lie in the grass and just relax: How long has it been since you lay on the grass and gazed at the blue sky? This is also something I use to do as a child. If you ever tried this as a kid, you may have forgotten how happy and peaceful it made you feel. During the weekend or on a day off, drive to the countryside, find a field of green grass and lie down. Lay perfectly still on your back and gaze into the sky. The feeling you will feel, will make you calmer and happier, even if it’s only for a short time.

Go to an amusement park: If you have been avoiding amusement parks because you think they are only for children, you couldn’t be more wrong. I went to Disney World in February for the first time and there were more adults than kids. I couldn’t believe it! I guess we all long to experience our childhood all over again. While I was at Disney World, I realized how much I missed that child like happiness and how much I need to relax and allow my inner child to come out every so often.

Fear doesn't  have to stop you: Go after what you want: As we grow up, life teaches us to be so careful that most of us are too  afraid to do anything we haven’t tried before. But fear doesn't have to  stop us; if you want to be an achiever and find true happiness, we have to go after what you want. If you want to ride an electric toy scooter,  go ahead and do it! I remember when I was a child, I would go after whatever I wanted.  I have to remind myself of that every so often.  This world and everything it has to offer are for those who dare.   So once in a while throw caution to the wind, take your chances and go  after what you want.

What things did you do as a child that you miss?
