5 Ways to Refresh Your Biz For Spring

By Stefanie Neyland, Small Business Content Developer at BizLaunch.com

The clocks have sprung forward and temperatures are (slowly) rising. There’s no doubt about it: spring is definitely in the air. With winter and the busy holiday season behind us and profitable holidays such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day just around the corner, now’s the time for business owners to refresh their organization ready for the busy times ahead.

To get you started, here are five simple things you can start doing straight away to refresh your venture for the dawn of the spring season.

1. Make sure your website is optimized for mobile

It’s no secret that mobile is the future, and many small businesses are missing out on mobile revenue. Your website should be easily viewable on mobile devices and tablets―no zooming or pinching required. To do this you have two options: create a mobile site or make your regular site responsive. To learn about the merits of each, click here.

2. Plan your social media strategy ahead of time

Develop a quarterly social media calendar to promote posting consistency within your organization. Interest in social media amongst small business owners has been waning in recent months with entrepreneurs citing lack of success and little return on investment, but having a strong social presence is a great way to tell your brand story and generate user engagement. 3. Re-evaluate your offerings

Take a fresh look at your business’s products and services and re-evaluate which of your offerings no longer add value. If some of your products or services have outlived market demand, consider phasing them out and replacing them with something new.

 4. Dust off your mission statement

Evaluate whether your company’s original mission statement still matches your current goals, and if your vision has changed or evolved over time, adapt your mission statement accordingly to be more in line with your new objectives.

 5. Refresh your colors

The beginning of the spring season offers the perfect opportunity to refresh your brand identity. It could be a small update to your logo, a revitalization of your company’s print collateral, or a revamp of your company website—anything to blow away the cobwebs and breathe new life into your business’s branding.

Bonus: Sharpen up your skills

There’s no better time of year for you and your employees to sharpen your existing skills or learn new ones. Consider taking courses, attending workshops or going to industry-related conferences to improve and build upon your expertise.

A little reinvigoration can do wonders for your business, and taking a fresh look at the way you run, organize and operate your business could mean fewer headaches, more sales, and more profits as the year goes on. A little spring cleaning really does go a long way!
